Hi! I’m Trevor Gile, and I’m a member of the Solutions Architect team here at Glean. In my role, I work directly with customers on their most complex technical challenges, helping them build a deep understanding of their enterprise systems, and then implement Glean as effectively and efficiently as possible. I also spend time writing documentation for the community, explaining how the Glean platform works and how to build on top of it.
Outside of work, I disconnect from the online world and gravitate towards tight-knit, activity-driven communities — beach volleyball, CrossFit, strategy board games, and my family. I would love to form an in-person community in San Diego’s North County to get together for coffee on a regular basis and chat about AI technologies.
Working closely with customers and the community
One of my favorite parts of this role is working shoulder-to-shoulder with customers and our community through hands-on workshops and office hours. I’ve met with several customers on a weekly basis to work through their challenges and offer best practices using Glean.
A standout moment happened at the Expert Lounge during Glean:GO, when I finally met a customer in person after months of weekly calls. They told me I was known internally at their company as “The Professor.”
Maybe it’s my graying beard, but hopefully it’s because of the helpful intellectual interactions that we had over the course of our weekly meetings. I take pride in offering more than just point solutions. I care about providing meaningful mental models customers can use to extend their impact long after a single conversation ends.
That’s one of the real privileges of being a Solutions Architect. We get front-row seats to customers’ biggest and boldest ideas. One “wow” moment for me was when a customer shared their goal to increase productivity across their entire enterprise by 50%. It wasn’t bluster; they had ideas for how to do it. That focus helped drive a partnership between their team and Glean’s structured data team. We all worked together to demonstrate how Glean’s upcoming features could help support their goal. Moments like that are a reminder of what’s possible when customers bring bold goals and we roll up our sleeves to tackle them together.
A space for sharing ideas, experiences, and lessons learned
The Gleaniverse brings together practitioners from every function at every level to share their experiences from their day-to-day work. Our Solutions Architect team is developing a blog series that will kick off very soon. We’ll be sharing guides, success stories, lessons learned, and observations of trends we’re seeing in the industry. I’m excited to connect with customers through these posts.
More than anything, I want to learn from customers. Glean’s customers have so much to offer and are full of amazing ideas. As I learn, I plan to organize and synthesize that knowledge and reshare it with the community. I also love experimenting with different mental models to help build intuition about technologies. If I can give customers a model that helps with their decision-making, then I’ve shown up in the right way within the Gleaniverse.
Learning from the people who use Glean every day
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that empathy and self-reflection matter more than ever in the age of AI. Every challenge is full of nuance, and you can’t solve problems effectively without actively engaging from each customer’s perspective. Reflecting on implicit and explicit assumptions is essential to help customers understand why something went wrong and provide targeted guidance to help them address their challenges.
As our Gleaniverse community grows, I hope we learn about the hidden, non-obvious opportunities. I want to hear from customers using Glean in completely unexpected ways, and those who failed fabulously trying to build something new on top of Glean’s platform. These are the stories that often inspire some of the most creative solutions.
I hope the Gleaniverse contains an unmatched breadth and depth of experiences — a community that’s highly engaged, supportive, and full of practical wisdom for making AI get real work done.
Continuing the conversation together
I encourage everyone to continue sharing your big challenges and bold ideas. There are so many members of this community who will jump in with solutions and thoughtful feedback. That kind of engagement raises the bar for everyone. I’m excited to learn from you, build with you, and grow the Gleaniverse together.
