My name is Rob Barker, though many colleagues know me as "barkz"—a nickname that's stuck with me since my days at Microsoft. I'm a Senior Solutions Architect within Glean's Customer Outcomes business unit, serving as a dedicated Resident Solutions Architect (RSA) for one of our enterprise accounts.
Outside of my day-to-day work, I live to connect with the mountain biking community in San Antonio. There are many local trails to ride, and I actively give back through trail maintenance. I lead group rides (when possible), so I get to meet new people and support the MTB local community—both online and out on the trail. Another secret is that I'm a big Lego builder and participate in online communities doing MOCs (My Own Creations).

In my RSA role, I work hands-on to enable our customers' success on the Glean Platform. This involves configuring essential components like single sign-on (SSO), connectors, networking, collaborating on our roadmap, supporting developers with our APIs, and working together on beta features and advanced projects like building Agents. It's a dynamic position that lets me engage deeply across our platform's technology and broader business, always focused on delivering great outcomes for our customers and the community.
I recently started engaging with our community and shared an idea post that highlights the art of what's possible with our platform. I plan to contribute more ideas and join other conversations. Although I consider myself still a beginner in the Gleaniverse, I’m excited to share ideas and try to help others.
Agents deliver that “wow” moment
When I joined Glean, I was already impressed by the platform's robust enterprise search, Assistant, Apps, and Prompts. However, my real "wow" moment came with the introduction of Agents. Glean Agents represent a core shift, serving as the fundamental building blocks for bringing agentic capabilities to life.
Their launch marked an exciting first step toward a much broader vision for the platform. In the fast-evolving SaaS and AI landscape, continuous innovation is essential, and our approach to Agents exemplifies that commitment. With each new feature, we're driving the Agent vision forward—striving to make Agents an indispensable part of every user's toolkit.
Knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving
What excites me most about the launch of the Gleaniverse is the opportunity for knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving, especially as people start using Glean Agents more often. Throughout my career, I've been motivated to help others understand technology's possibilities and limitations. While identifying challenges is straightforward, finding creative solutions is where real impact happens. For example, I recently shared an idea on using PresentationML to generate PowerPoint slides—a feature we currently don't offer—demonstrating how to tackle unmet needs together.
Contributing by inspiring change and helping turn challenges into solutions is key to innovation. That’s why I plan to be actively engaged in the Gleaniverse—sharing knowledge, answering questions, and learning right alongside our customers. My goal is to foster open dialogue, encourage creative problem-solving, and provide practical solutions whenever possible. I'm excited to both teach and be taught, always welcoming fresh ideas and perspectives that challenge my own thinking. By collaborating closely with the community, I hope to help build a space where everyone can grow, innovate, and succeed together.
Learning from our customers
One thing I've learned from our customers is to never underestimate how creatively they'll push the platform or use a feature. They consistently think outside the box, finding new and unexpected ways to achieve their goals. It's a great reminder that there's no one-size-fits-all solution—every customer brings their own perspective and innovation, enriching our platform and community as a result.
I hope our growing community in the Gleaniverse will teach us, as well as each other, what we haven't yet discovered or considered—sharing fresh perspectives and solutions that challenge our assumptions and expand our collective knowledge.
I truly hope that a year from now, the Gleaniverse community becomes a haven for true collaboration—customers helping customers. While it may sound cliché, I genuinely believe the phrase "it takes a village" captures the spirit of what makes a vibrant community. Everyone contributes by sharing tips, tricks, configuration advice—and this exchange of ideas and solution strategies will help everyone better tackle real-world business challenges. This collaborative environment would empower every member to learn, grow, and achieve more together.
