Evolving from actions to applications in Assistant
Glean Assistant already supports actions and remote MCP servers, letting admins connect tools like Asana, Notion, GitHub, Canva, and more as callable actions inside Assistant and Agents. MCP Apps take this one step further. Assistant can now embed rich, partner-authored UIs directly in Glean Assistant using the MCP Apps Extension standard.
We are starting by releasing MCP Apps in Glean Assistant for tools our customers already depend on every day, including work management tools like Asana (coming soon), content and file platforms like Box, visual creation tools like Gamma, and data tools like Hex, Mixpanel (coming soon), and Clay (coming soon). The goal is simple: meet people where they already work, with the apps they already trust, while keeping a single, consistent Assistant experience.
For example:
- Turn a conversation into an Asana ticket in seconds. Just say "create a ticket from this conversation, with me as owner and next Friday as the due date" — Assistant surfaces a widget to review and confirm every field before anything is created.
- Pull up a live Hex dashboard and get AI-powered analysis in the same breath. Ask "show me the Q1 product adoption dashboard and summarize what changed after our last release" — you get the data and the story, together.
