This week, Gartner published new research on the emerging market for no-code agent builders, and Glean was named a Market Shaper in the 2026 Emerging Market Quadrant for No-Code Agent Builders — Startup Vendors.
We’re proud of that recognition. But what matters more is the shift it reflects: agents are moving from experiments into governed systems that do real work.
No-code agent builders are becoming an important part of how enterprises operationalize AI. Organizations want agents that are useful, trustworthy, and capable of getting real work done. They also want the people closest to the work — from business technologists to IT teams to functional leaders — to help shape and deploy those agents without waiting on a custom engineering cycle. These platforms make that possible: business users can build, publish, and manage AI-powered agents without deep coding expertise.
The Gartner report defines the no-code agent builder (NCAB) market as SaaS-delivered products that offer an integrated design and runtime environment to build, publish and manage AI-powered agents without using coding. AI agents are autonomous or semiautonomous software entities that use AI techniques to perceive, make decisions, take actions and achieve goals in their digital or physical environments. NCABs are used to build agents that can be surfaced in the context of enterprise applications (CRM, ERP or digital workplace applications) and embedded in custom web and mobile apps. In some cases, these agents are invokable by popular AI assistants.

The next wave of enterprise AI won’t be built only by developers working in isolation. It will also be shaped by the teams that understand where work gets stuck, where context breaks down, and where automation can create real value. The power of no-code agents is that they bring agent creation closer to the people with the judgment to define the problem well.
But the enterprise standard for no-code agents is much higher than a drag-and-drop builder or a chat interface.
A useful enterprise agent needs context, governance, and secure access to the systems where work actually happens. It has to reason through a problem, pull in the right data and tools, and adapt as it learns more. And it has to bridge unstructured knowledge with structured workflows, so it can move from finding information to executing work.

Nor is the future code-first or no-code only — it’s flexible by design. The goal isn’t to force every workflow into one paradigm. It’s to give organizations a platform where agent building is accessible enough for business users to participate, while remaining powerful enough for IT and engineering teams to govern, extend, and trust at scale.
In other words: democratization without chaos.
