AI Summary by Glean
  • Glean Skills addresses a core enterprise AI gap: models can generate content, but they usually lack the company-specific structure, judgment, and context needed to execute real work consistently across tasks like account planning, EBR prep, and follow-up emails.
  • Skills package institutional knowledge into reusable instructions, workflows, templates, and tool usage, so teams can avoid starting from scratch and instead get personalized, context-aware execution that reflects how their business actually operates.
  • The broader argument is that enterprises are moving from AI experimentation to operationalization, and Skills helps make AI dependable, repeatable, and scalable by embedding the right expertise directly into Glean, with support for easy creation, automatic relevance, and interoperability via the open Agent Skills standard.

AI has gotten remarkably good at creating content, but in the enterprise, creation is only part of the job. The harder problem is execution: applying the right structure, judgment, and context to the work your teams do every day.

That's where many AI experiences still fall short. A model may be state-of-the-art, but it doesn't automatically know how your company does account planning, prepares for an executive business review, or writes sales follow-up emails. Every user starts from scratch for every task. Every ask produces a different structure. What you need is something that delivers results with consistency, institutional memory, and reusability.

That's why we built Glean Skills. With Skills, teams can bring personalized, reusable expertise into their work with more structure, consistency, and context calibrated to how your company actually works.

Skills encapsulate context and workflow know-how

A Skill is a lightweight, reusable set of instructions of how a task should be completed. It captures the structure of a workflow, the logic behind it, example outputs or templates, and the tools Glean will use to complete the task.

Skills matter because most enterprise work is not solved by a blank prompt. It depends on enterprise context, your working style, and accumulated know-how. With Skills, teams don't have to rediscover the right prompt, hunt for the right inputs, or remember the right sequence of steps every time they need help. The expertise is already packaged and ready to reuse.

Because Skills run inside Glean, you don't need to manually configure or inject company knowledge. Glean already understands your business and applies that context automatically when a Skill is relevant. And, Glean can also determine when a Skill applies and load the right expertise in the flow of work, without asking users to invoke it explicitly or switch to a separate tab.

Skills also follow the open Agent Skills standard, so it's easy to import compatible skills from ecosystems like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Cursor directly into Glean, rather than rebuilding from scratch. Or, you can easily create a Skill through chat or even using voice.

The panel shows the instructions and workflow behind the Skill ensuring a structured output, grounded in enterprise context, with no expertise required to build what you need.

Skills accelerate enterprise AI transformation

Enterprises are done experimenting with AI and now need to operationalize it. The question is no longer whether AI can be useful. It's whether it can be dependable enough to support real work and personalized enough to reflect how your business actually operates for repeatable use cases like account planning, executive business review prep, or renewal conversations..

Skills help make that result repeatable and personalized to how they work. With Skills, organizations capture how work actually gets done including the preferred process, the right structure, the domain-specific know-how and make that expertise available in Glean seamlessly.

That's the opportunity with Skills in Glean: moving from generic AI help to reusable, enterprise-ready expertise on demand no matter what team you’re on.
