Modern companies have invested heavily in data platforms, dashboards, and analytics teams. But for most employees, getting an answer still means waiting on a report, opening the right dashboard, or knowing enough SQL to build the right query.
At Glean, we believe that access to data should be democratized, enabling anyone to engage in data-driven decision making. We’ve spent the past year building towards this vision in partnership with Databricks. First, we enabled Glean agents to query Databricks data in automated workflows, then enabled Glean to search Databricks dashboards and semantic definitions, and more recently enabled users to connect Glean’s MCP to Databricks Genie and Databricks Genie Code.
Today, we're expanding the partnership further with Databricks in Glean Assistant. Now, users can ask analytical questions in natural language or run read-only SQL against approved Databricks data, without ever leaving Glean.
What’s new: Databricks in Glean Assistant
Databricks is now available as a native data source in Glean Assistant. Instead of navigating dashboards, filing requests, or learning warehouse schemas, employees can ask questions directly in Glean and get trusted answers.

When you type in a question, Glean taps Databricks Genie to translate natural language queries into SQL. Then, Glean combines Databricks insights with the surrounding enterprise context across docs, tickets, notes, Slack, email, rollout plans, and more, so users can understand not just what happened, but why it happened and what to do next.
Once you have your answer, Glean can also help take it to the next step by analyzing structured and unstructured data together, and building polished documents, charts, slides, or interactive artifacts to share with the rest of your team. Complete your entire workflow without ever leaving Glean.

How teams can unlock more value from Databricks
Our joint customers have found immense value in the ability to connect Databricks data with Glean context. In response, we’ve built a variety of integrations for different workflows:
- Databricks in Glean Assistant: Business users can query Databricks data in natural language directly inside Glean Assistant. This self-service approach to analytics gets knowledge workers answers in minutes instead of days, no SQL required.
- Databricks Connector in Glean: Business users can index and search Databricks AI/BI dashboards and Genie Spaces directly in Glean, while Databricks permissions, governance, and security remain fully intact.
- Direct SQL in Glean: Technical users can query Databricks data with SQL within Glean Assistant and Glean Agents for precise analysis. Using Glean as the front door heavily reduces context switching and tool switching that break focus.
- Databricks Genie and Genie Code with Glean MCP: Whether building dashboards, data pipelines, or semantic views, data teams can bring Glean's enterprise context directly into their daily Databricks workflows.
This partnership is about more than connecting a new data source. Together, Glean and Databricks bring structured data and unstructured business context into a single workflow, so organizations can make trusted decisions faster.
